Student Success Solution: To be released on demand

We have been working on our WebStudy Success solution designed to improve student success for some time.  After months of design and development, we are happy to announce that starting late January 2017 some of the features from this comprehensive solution will be released on demand – meaning schools may choose when they would like to have these features available.

What are the specifics? Our “engine” for the creation and management of rubrics has been completely rebuilt, and, we’ve implemented new solution focused on student outcomes.

Rubrics

    • Rubrics can now be created on two levels:
      • At an Institutional level (created by administrator)
      • At a Course level (created by an Instructor)
    • All Rubrics can be shared across the entire Institution.
    • Rubrics can be assigned to a Department.  In future WebStudy Releases we are planning to introduce the concept of a “Program”, which will allow Rubrics to be assigned across departments, or to the entire Institution.
    • Rubrics are organized into a Rubrics Library, which can be managed and updated by authorized persons (administrators, program directors, librarians, etc.). Libraries will provide overview and statistics showing which rubrics are being used and by which courses.  The unused rubrics can be modified or deleted.  Rubrics can also be copied, and, in future releases rubrics will be included in the import/export engine functionality.
    • There are two types of shared rubrics:
      • Editable Rubrics – Instructors will be able to obtain a template of this rubric and then edit it in any way they wish
      • Certification Rubrics – these rubrics are mandatory, created by Institutional Administrators, assigned to certain courses or coursework items, and they are marked as READ ONLY (cannot be edited by Instructors).
      • All rubrics can be measured and analyzed on a per course level or across multiple courses to determine student success, comprehension and student retention levels.
      • When grading, instructors can enter comments on rating level as well as commenting on the entire rubric (total grade).
      • Rubrics are now self-adjusting and auto-scalable. For example:  Suppose that the original rubric was created to accommodate a gradable item with a Maximum Points earned set to 100.  If a gradable item in a course is set to have 30 Maximum Points setting, and we assign this rubric to it, the rubric will automatically and proportionally scale itself to reflect the Maximum Points value of 30 points to match the gradable item.

Outcomes

      • Outcomes can be setup for the following levels:
        • Institutional
        • Departmental or
        • Program (future release)
      • Outcomes can be measured and analyzed, producing a variety of comprehensive reports:
